TLID0018 Preparation for Transport of Dangerous Goods

This course is aimed at entry level students who seek a detailed understanding of the requirements to prepare and transport dangerous goods by road in Queensland.

Course Overview

The TLID0018 Prepare for transport dangerous goods by road is a nationally recognised unit of competency, and aligns with the requirements of TORUM DG Regulation (2018) s20, that all those who have been assigned responsibility under the regulation, must be trained to fulfil those responsibilities.

The course has been designed for consignors, packers, loaders, drivers of packaged DG, and prime contractors who need to understand their assigned duties and obligations under the current TORUM DG Regulation and ADG Code.

The training covers many aspects of the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code, including classification, packing, documentation, safety equipment, segregation, stowage, and safe transport procedures (including the LQ and EQ concessions – if required).

Upon successful completion, participants will have received the required knowledge and understanding need to safely prepare dangerous goods for transport in compliance with the ADG Code, along with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Course Duration

8 hours plus breaks.

Course Delivery

Face-to-face in class room.

Course Assessment

  • The assessment is broken up by subject and will be administered and assessed progressively throughout the 8 hours of training in the form of a workbook assessment, and is conducted as an open book exam.
  • Written questions are completed by the student in a classroom environment, utilizing full and current copies of the ADG Code and associated legislation, along with the provided Learner Guide.

Entry Requirements

  • A valid USI number. (we can provide assistance in creating one for you if required)
  • Complete the DGS Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) assessment.
  • There are no formal entry requirements for the TLID0018 unit.

However, students must have sound English comprehension for technical terminology.

Licensing Requirements

There are no licencing requirements for this course.

  • Suitable reading glasses (if required).
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Jacob Carr

Course Instructor
Jacob has over ten years’ experience in the transport of dangerous goods across New Zealand and Australia. He began his career with a small biotechnology company in New Zealand and more recently worked as a Warehouse Manager for an Australian scientific supplies organisation. In these roles, he was directly responsible for the manual handling, storage, packing, and consignment of dangerous goods transported by both road and sea.
 
Jacob has a comprehensive and detailed understanding of dangerous goods legislation, codes, and regulatory guidelines. He holds the TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TLID0018 – Prepare Dangerous Goods for Transport, and TLILIC0001 – Licence to Transport Dangerous Goods by Road, HLTPAT005 – Collect Specimen for Drugs of Abuse Testing. He has also successfully completed AMSA-approved Maritime General Awareness and Maritime Function-Specific Dangerous Goods training.
 
Jacob is passionate about designing and delivering accurate, appropriately detailed training materials. His training is presented in a logical, structured manner and broken down into clear, easy-to-understand components to support effective learning outcomes.
